Today, to make up for the image I didn’t post yesterday I ll show you two photos I took last fall in the country side near Angers.

I found the soft light at the end of the day very inspiring. I really love the low-key effect this kind of light can produce !

I wont give any directions on how to read this image or anything about its context. Just a loose link to the idea of stars seen in the first image by my first commentator

Hello, this image is the beginning of a “dreamy” set. I made it one morning in may 2 years ago while I was still waking up. Not exactly sure what it was supposed to mean at the moment. Windows through other windows.

Animals. Still. Sometimes they appear in strange circumstances. Like this cow on a beach near Girolata in western Corsica.

Girolata is an isolated village you cannot reach unless you are willing to walk four hours  back  and forth. You will find the beach approximately halfway to the village from the beginning of the hiking track.

What we say there was unexpected. A herd of cows sitting there sunbathing. Most of them were skinny  and  seemed to come from nowhere. You don’t really expect to see cows on a beach like that. However, they seemed totally natural and relaxed.

Today, something different. I  made this image about 4 years ago but it is still one of my faves.

It was one of those moments where you take a shot and then you take it again and again untill it matches more or less the idea that started germinating in your head. And even then it is not exactly the same thing. It is funny because when you decide to stop because you think you got what you wanted, you get a sense of control over your picture  that you lose gradually when you look at it for  a little longer.

The intersting thing I find here is that maybe every image a sort of collaboration between reality and your own imagination which makes it very hard to control entirely.

Servir un Tajine  n’est souvent pas facile. C’est aussi vrai pour beaucoup de plats en sauce de façon plus générale.

Ce que j’aime souvent avec ce style d’images c’est quand les légumes et les différents ingrédients deviennent a peine discernable toute en gardant leurs couleurs vives. Les textures étant comme diluée dans un flou léger.

This is my first blog post here.

The goal of this ‘experiment’ is to make and show one image per day. There will be a set of themes every photo will be related to.

Figurative or more abstract themes will be shown. But every picture will try to stick to one main idea.

You are encouraged to leave your comments and critique on every image.

So this is my first image starting a set about food. The goal is not to make the best possible image of choosen dishes but to try and find a good composition taking advantage of the texture and color of the subject and of course its environment and the way it is served. This last point is very important in regards to the cultural context of every dish.

The ‘piece of cake in the afternoon’ was recently taken at the end of a heavy meal. I couldn’t resist to the urge of capturing the way the light coming from the window revealed the texture under the almost falling/ unstable star.

The white plate and the glass behind made a perfect composition helper to me.
